ATO Audit Support

Our role is to assist eligible clients with professional guidance and administrative support during formal ATO review or audit processes.

Support may include:

• Reviewing ATO audit or review notices
• Assisting with response preparation
• Organising supporting documentation
• Providing guidance on requested records
• Supporting communication throughout the review process
• Helping clients understand compliance obligations and next steps

All assistance is provided by AUPOD professionals in accordance with our standard service procedures and eligibility conditions.

Included Support

Eligible clients may receive up to $1,000 AUD in professional service credits covering internal AUPOD advisory and administrative support.

This may include:

• Internal professional labour hours
• Audit response preparation
• Documentation review and organisation
• Communication guidance relating to the audit process

Excluded Costs

The coverage does not include external or third party expenses, including but not limited to:

• Legal representation or legal counsel
• Specialist reports or valuations
• External bookkeeping or record reconstruction
• Courier or travel expenses
• Independent accounting or consulting services

Once the allocated professional service credit has been exhausted, any additional work requested will be billed at AUPOD’s standard hourly rates.

To qualify for AUPOD Audit Support coverage, the following conditions must be met:

Returns Prepared by AUPOD

• Audit assistance is available only for tax returns and lodgements prepared and submitted directly by AUPOD.

Audit Notice Notification

• Clients must provide AUPOD with the original ATO audit or review notice within 48 hours of receiving the correspondence.

Delays in notification may affect eligibility for support coverage.

Accurate Original Information

• All information originally supplied during tax preparation must have been complete, accurate, and truthful.

Timely Client Cooperation

• Clients must provide requested receipts, records, and supporting documents promptly to allow effective response preparation.

AUPOD reserves the right to limit or withdraw audit support coverage where:

• Required receipts or supporting records cannot be provided within requested timeframes
• False, misleading, or incomplete information was supplied during the original preparation process
• The audit relates to actions taken against AUPOD’s written professional advice
• Clients communicate directly with the ATO regarding the audit without prior coordination with AUPOD
• Clients fail to cooperate with reasonable requests during the review process

Where coverage no longer applies, any additional professional work may be charged at standard service rates.

AUPOD Audit Support is designed to provide professional assistance only.

The service:

• Does not guarantee a successful audit outcome
• Does not cover penalties, interest, tax liabilities, or repayment obligations
• Does not replace independent legal advice where required
• Does not constitute insurance coverage or financial protection against ATO decisions

All final decisions regarding audits, amendments, penalties, or assessments remain solely with the Australian Taxation Office.
